How to Apply to the Plant Systems Biology Program

You are encouraged to initiate correspondence with one or more of our faculty. Such contact can be of importance in promoting your application and provide you with more information about graduate research opportunities.

Then submit the following application materials:

  1. Complete the UNL Graduate Application Form. In the graduate application, you must select in the drop down box:
    - Major/Degree --> Biological Sciences PhD
    - Specialization --> Plant Systems Biology
  2. Two (2) Official transcripts (Not photocopies) from all accredited colleges and universities attended. GPA of 3 or better.

    3. Please send also to the Graduate Admissions Coordinator:

  3. Three (3) letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes. Download forms here.
  4. Official GRE Scores (No photocopies). GRE scores of 60% or better in the Verbal and Quantitative portions, with a 4 in the Analytical section.
  5. Extended Paragraph describing long-term professional goals. It should be approximately 300 words and include a statement of future plans, reasons for entering graduate school, and a discussion of the type of graduate research program you envision in order to realize the goals you have outlined.

    6. International Students Only

  6. TOEFL Score (No photocopies) 100 iBT, 600 paper based, 250 computer based.
  7. Financial Resource Certification Form.

Deadlines

  • The deadline for Fall 2008 admission is December 15, 2007. Admission to the graduate program will be made only when all the departmental requirements are met and are on file. The Office of Graduate Studies will send official notice of the admission deadlines.
